Unsupported Configuration Errors
Link validates configuration updates against the firmware version reported by each target device. If a requested configuration uses a feature that a device's current firmware cannot understand, Link rejects the request before sending a partial or unsupported configuration to the device.
Error Shape
The Org API returns:
- gRPC status:
Unimplemented - message:
unsupported configuration - error detail:
org.UnsupportedConfiguration
UnsupportedConfiguration contains one UnsupportedConfigurationDevice item per affected device. Each item includes the device ID when available and a list of features that require newer firmware.
Features
The current feature values are:
| Feature | Meaning |
|---|---|
Unknown | Link detected that the requested configuration would lose data for the device firmware version, but could not classify the feature. |
Aliro | The requested configuration includes Aliro reader settings not supported by the device firmware. |
CredentialProfiles | The requested configuration includes credential profiles not supported by the device firmware. |
Client Handling
Clients should treat this as an actionable compatibility error rather than a transient failure. The usual resolution is to update the affected device firmware, remove the unsupported configuration feature, or target only devices that support the feature.
